Loved this book and couldn't put it down

Loved this book and couldn't put it down. Other reviews have explained the theme of the book and it is surprisingly modern and up to date. It also seems to show both the supportive and toxic effects of a female group. The group seems to have had a detrimental effect on many of its members. Very perceptive and in some ways a bitter and honest appraisal of a group of women which could be true of any era.

A charming book

It started a little slowly but picked up pace in the second chapter. I liked how the author allowed us a first person narrative and then we got to see the woman from her friends perspective. I for one loved the details regarding contraception, breast feeding and child rearing, it gave the novel the feeling of a social history lesson too. The plot didn't move in predictable direction either which I liked.
