Please be aware that this is an abridged version of Jules Verne's novel, especailly adapted for younger French-speaking readers. There are notes explaining in French some of the vocabulary. Purists looking for the complete novel (like me) may be disappointed.

Classic Jules Verne (in the French) although a bit simplistic at times in terms of resourcefulness and survival without modern amenities. The free scanned text is easy to read - there are some mistakes here and there from the scanning but these don't detract from the read.

I enjoyed it greatly, I read to improve my French and there was a sense of adventure throughout. The author's knowledge of the natural world is immense.
