absolutely brilliant account

I read this book over 10 years ago and found it a wonderful read. It is the story of a child/foetus that develops inside a woman. The story revolves around the child's feelings and surroundings, despite the fact that towards the third month, I think, the mother decides to have an abortion. A must for anyone who has had an abortion, or is thinking of going through the pains of an abortion.

Thought - provoking and emotive.

I have studied this book as part of an italian a-level. It is a very well written novel in which the author airs her thoughts and opinions on many issues (including feminism) at many levels - focussing primarily on the stigma of being an unmarried single woman expecting a baby in Italy. The book is thought to be largely based upon her own experiences as an expecting single female. Fallaci is well known for her journalistic skills as well as her writing abilities, and is studied at various universities. A recurring theme in many of her works is that of feminism - a topical issue in Italy. Although an interesting and informative monologue narrative, it is also very emotive and thought provoking. I highly recommend this novel, not only for study purposes, but also to anyone who enjoys a good read.
