A concise and informative introduction to Perrault.

The texts in the book and the analyses are all in French. The layout is much like that of Petits Classiques Larousse series of small textbooks.Although the stories are short, there nine of them to read and compare. The length also makes them accessible to readers with varying levels of French (post GCSE and onwards, I would say). As the book is more of a textbook there are questions at the end of each story which prompts deeper analysis of the texts in their social and historical context. There is also a short biography of Perrault and an introduction to the literature of 17th century France.Overall it is worth the money and did well in introducing me to Perrault's work.
