A new vet - Paul Bladen - moves into Carsley and all the women suddenly discover something wrong with their pets. Agatha Raisin is pleased to be invited to a restaurant by the attractive vet. But he fails to turn up and when she phones him a woman answers claiming to be his wife.When Bladen is found dead after what appears to be a tragic accident Agatha thinks she can draw a line under the unfortunate business until someone else is found dead and she finds herself once more involved in an investigation with her attractive neighbour, James Lacey.I enjoyed this fast paced story in which Agatha makes too many assumptions but eventually manages to stumble across the truth and put herself in danger in the process. I like Agatha because she isn't a perfect person. She is irritable, can't cook, is hopeless at housework, battles with her weight, falls in love - or lust - at the drop of a hat and suffers agonies over where her impetuosity has led her. In spite of all those faults, she is kind hearted and throws herself into anything she attempts. This is the second book in the series.

The Agatha Raisin story's are brilliant and funny I am reading and listening to them from book one and now up to book 11.Worth buying and really can't put down now x

I just love Agatha Raisin. I can't get away from the voice of Penelope Keith as Agatha, ( but I don't mind, as she is excellent ) as I first listened to the audio CD's, but buy the kindle version, the plot is different, but both are equally enjoyable, you just get more with the book.Agatha again sets off investigating, with her great friends. A thoroughly enjoyable read, yet again. I really can't fault them
