A Rough Diamond

I thought I had read all Ken Follett's novels until I saw this book advertised on Amazon. Once it arrived all was made clear; it had been originally written under a pen name and actually pre-dated Eye of the Needle.What a find! It is a raw, unpolished gem of a Follett. The story was written just before the computer age really kicked in so younger readers might it a bit old-fashioned but the story is so good it easily stands the test of time.The book takes us through a morning in the life of the various characters and how their very different worlds impact on one another. There are press reporters,a politician, an old school businessman, a crooked businessman, a gangster, a prostitute and so on. A lot of names to remember but, as always, it eventually all makes sense in an ending that's far from predictable.If you have anything else kicking around in the attic Ken ...........

Terrible ending. Suggest you stop a couple of chapters before the end then make your own ending up and pretend​ you've finished.
